The XC90 is Motor Trend's SUV of the Year for the Second Time

It is an honor to win the Motor Trend SUV of the Year award. However, it's extra special to win it twice, since only all-new or substantially redesigned vehicles are even considered.

Ushering in a new era of seven-passenger SUV's, the XC90 first won the award when it was introduced to the market in 2002. Now entering its 14th year of production, the XC90 has once again earned the coveted and iconic title. The supercharged and turbocharged, 316 horsepower Drive-E engine has an EPA rating of 25 miles-per-gallon highway. Inside it features a tablet-like control system, and outside it sports an unassuming yet still stylish aesthetic. The extensive IntelliSafe suite of safety features gives it the distinction of being the safest Volvo yet.

According to Lex Kerssemakers, president and CEO of Volvo Cars of North America, "Everyone at Volvo Cars is exceptionally proud to win the Motor Trend SUV of the Year award. The all-new XC90 is a strong indicator of things to come at Volvo.”
