XC90 R-Design is Leading Performance Utility Vehicle as Chosen by Texas Auto Writers Association

The critically acclaimed 2016 Volvo XC90 continues to rake in the accolades more than half a year after its introduction last fall. The latest addition to the trophy case came from the Texas Auto Writers Association during the Texas Auto Roundup, held this past weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway. The annual event draws more than 50 TAWA journalists to evaluate the industry's latest offerings. Though it was up against several worthy competitors, like the Tesla Model X and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Volvo's XC90 was named TAWA's preferred Performance Utility Vehicle.

"From its elegant design to its cleverly powerful engine, thoughtful safety features, and semi-autonomous driving capabilities, the XC90 is simply a class-leading package," said Nic Phillips, TAWA president. “Our journalists continue to award this new XC90, this time for its performance oriented variant, the benchmark has been set high and the Volvo delivers.”

This just the latest TAWA award for the XC90. In 2015, the association awarded the luxury utility vehicle the titles 2015 Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas and 2015 Best Luxury Crossover Utility Vehicle.
